The rule I am going to tell you about is that we are prohibited from leaving campus during the last term to prevent the spread of coronavirus.We were just like prisoners who could only roam around in a confined area.In fact,the only difference between us and them was that we did not have to follow a strict daily routine and report everything we had done.

我要告诉你的规矩是，我们在上学期的时候被禁止离开校园，以阻止新冠的传播。我们就像囚犯一样只能在有限的区域活动。事实上，我们跟他们唯一的区别在于我们不用遵守严格的日程安排，不用报告所做的一切事情。

I believe nobody would like this rule.Our freedom was deprived and ties with the outside world were cut off.Lovers in different schools could not meet each other.The delicious restaurants situated right around the street corner were out of reach.Video games soon lost their amusement and my roommates and I started to invent various silly games to kill time.This was literally the most boring period in my 21 years of life.

我认为不会有任何人喜欢这一规矩。我们的自由被剥夺，与外界的联系被切断。不同学校的情侣无法见面。就在街角的饭店无法到达。电子游戏很快就失去了魅力。我和我的室友开始发明各种愚蠢的游戏来打发时间。这绝对是我21年的人生里最无聊的一段时间。

To be honest,our feelings towards this rule were fairly complex.We knew it was the necessary measure to keep us safe.After all,schools were densely populated and students could barely keep a reasonable social distance considering their collective lifestyle.If one of us was infected,the whole school would soon collapse.But it was really challenging for us to welcome it wholeheartedly.

老实说，我们对这一规矩的感情十分复杂。我们知道它是保护我们安全的必要手段。毕竟，学校里人员密集，考虑到学生的集体生活方式，他们很难保持合理的社交距离。一旦一个人被传染，整个学校很快就会崩溃。但要让我们真心欢迎它真的很困难。

This confinement lasted for over two months and no matter how bored we were,no one had ever breached the rule.We were surely afraid of the punishment.But most importantly,we did not want to endanger others because of our misbehaviour.

这一限制持续了两个多月，不管我们多么无聊，没有任何人破坏这一规矩。我们当然害怕惩罚。但最重要的是，我们不想因为自己的错误行为而危害他人。
