The experience I am going to tell you about is that I helped a lost child find his parent at the train station during the last summer vacation.Instead of staying at home and playing games all day,I signed up for a volunteering program in my city and was assigned to the inquiry desk of the train station near my home.
It was a scorching afternoon. When I was occupied with answering various questions of the passengers, like where the subway station was and how they could refund the ticket,I noticed a boy at three or four years old crying alone in the corner of the arrival lobby. Most people passing by glimpsed at him but did not stop their steps.
Out of curiosity,I approached him and asked what had happened.Probably because of the uniform I was wearing,he told me he could not find his mother immediately and followed me back to the inquiry desk without resistance.I reported the incident to my supervisor and broadcast his features through the radio.Half an hour later, his mother came. She said she had thought her son was still at the platform and had been looking for him there. She kept saying“Thank you,”and I could literally see the relief on her face.
I was very proud of this experience. What I have done may prevent a family from falling apart and a mother from blaming herself for the rest of her life.
