My grandfather's house is a quiet place that I visit around 2-3 times a year and like very much. This is in the village (...say a village name...). My grandfather’s house is a big house with lots of open spaces and a river is flowing nearby.

In this big house only 3-4 people and 2-3 servants live as my grandparents are no longer in this world and my uncles, aunts are mostly living in different big cities.

There are 7-8 rooms in the house and a big garden in front of the house. The servants take care of the garden and keep the place neat and clean. Since I live in a city and work for a big company where I have lots of responsibilities to perform, the city life seems very busy and even sometimes chaotic to me.

Whenever I visit my grandfather’s house, I get an impression that I have come to the most peaceful place in the world. I have not seen many places and have not travelled extensively but in my experience the peace and the mental tranquillity I enjoy being here are unmatched. One of the reasons can be my childhood memories; as I have spent my childhood at this very house and whenever I go there, lots of memories flash back and give me a pleasure that I do not get from elsewhere.

I know this place from my childhood as I was born and grown up here. This place is different to me. I leave behind my busy life and come here to relax both mentally and physically. The memory of my departed grandparents, my childhood and other happy events are related to this place. I can get fresh air, meet some of my relatives, enjoy the country life and stay close to nature here and for all those reasons, I like this place very much.

k, well the first place that came to mind when I saw this topic was the Beijing Metro, because I remember it being unbelievably crowded, so that’s what I’m gonna talk to you about.

And as for when I went there, well it was actually pretty recently, I suppose probably only about two or three weeks ago, so it’s still pretty fresh in my memory.

And regarding what I was doing there, well basically, I was on my way to see a friend who lives in Beijing, and she had told me that by far the best way to get around the city was using the subway, simply because the roads were so congested. So I took her advice, but it was a huge shock when I actually got into the subway station and saw just how many people there were. I mean, I knew that there would be a lot of people, but I never expected to see that many!

Although looking back on it now, I suppose what made it worse was the fact that I was travelling during rush hour, so it was a lot more crowded than I’m sure it would have been during off-peak times. And when I saw how packed the train was when it was pulling into the station, I remember thinking there was no way I was going to be able to get on. But I was in a bit of a hurry, coz I was actually already running late, so I had no choice really but to join the huge queue of people waiting. Anyway, I did somehow manage to make it onto the train, but I was pressed up against people on all sides, so it was pretty uncomfortable to say the least! I mean, it was absolutely heaving, and I literally couldn’t move at all!

Thankfully though, I didn’t have too far to travel, coz if I remember correctly, I was only on the train for about 4 stops. And when I finally got off, I remember feeling incredibly relieved, and also very grateful that I didn’t have to go through the same experience every day.

So yeah, I guess that’s pretty much all there is to say!

Well, I have visited quite a number of countries around the world with one place being particularly impressive to me, which is the Royal Grand Palace in Bangkok,Thailand-the place where the King used to live. The buildings in the Royal Grand Palace can be generally divided into two types: temples and mansions. The temples are all decorated in an extravagant style. I was told that the outer part of the temples used to be decorated with real gold and gems . However, it turned out that these expensive material "disappeared " soon after they were installed. As a result, they have all been replaced by artificial gold and glass today. The mansions there are quite spacious as the King himself and all his wives used to live there. You know, in Thailand, a man can marry more than one wife owing to the fact that there are much more women than men in this country. So in the mansion, you will see numerous rooms with one room for a single wife. Seeing that, you can’t help envying the "wonderful wife" the King enjoys!
