Around the world, there are various ways that universities receive their funding. Some people believe that they should be partly funded through the government by means of scholarships for particularly gifted students, but that generally their funding should come from tuition and other sources. Personally, I tend to disagree with this position.

It is true that those best students who get top grade in faculty or creative useful things are deserved be given money as scholarships. This practice can also encourage other students to work hard in the next semester. However, I think the funding should be expanded not just to include the most gifted students, but also to ensure diversity, which is also important for education and society as a whole. After all, the aim of a university is not merely to prepare students for work head. College education could cultivate the mind of the student and enhance their overall abilities.

In addition, if the university spend government financial support in other aspects, it can make study fund lower so that a growing number of students may have chance to entering the college. This is especially important for those who live in poverty. Without financial support, they are more likely to be barred from universities simply because they cannot pay the the rising tuition fees.

Overall, government funding should not only be used in rewarding the best students. By using those money in other field, the cost of advanced study could lower so that more people can enter the university to reach their dream.
